The TANG.NU project assesses the environmental impact of cultivating Sacharina latissima in open waters, and investigates the prospect of harvesting Ulva species in sheltered nutrient rich areas.

By harvesting the seaweed, nutrients are removed for the benefit of the marine environment. TANG.NU aim for investigating environmental effects of seaweed cultivation and harvest, developing gentle harvesting methods, gathering information and regulation on food and feed safety of seaweed, and testing the effects of seaweed in animal feed.
